Who Are We?

The "Glue Crew" is an organized (ok, somewhat organized) group of gung-ho individuals in central Wisconsin that share a common interest in building and displaying scale models. We meet once a month, have a short business meeting and the rest of the time is open for telling stories, sharing tips, showing work in progress, and just plain old BS. Like any other club, we have membership dues of $12.00 a year per person; these dues help defer the costs associated with attending future model contests and includes a hobby shop discount. In addition to the $12.00 per year, we have been throwing a few dollars in the kitty each month to help build the pot, this is voluntary and not a requirement of the club. We are a non-profit organization. The money raised at our contest is given back to the community through local charities.

The club consists of modelers with a variety of interests, including cars, aircraft, ships, armor, and anything else that one can make with plastic. We do have a Supreme and Most Exalted ruler, who we call President... "Hardware" Ken Koppa, the VP is Bob "Madd Dogg" Dudley, the Treasurer is Pete "Cough, Sucker" Samolinski, and the Secretary/IPMS contact is Joe "I can't believe this is happening" Drew. The club's usual meeting place is the Wausau Mine Company , and we meet the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 P.M.

If you live in the Central Wisconsin area, give us a try and I'll bet you like what you see and hear.

Giving back to the Wausau community.

On December 9, 2010, The Glue Crew presented donations to each of the following charities: the Share the Holidays program, the Women's Community Center, and the IPMS "Make and Take" program. The money was raised from the sale of raffle tickets and registration fees from our 2010 contest. This has become a tradition with our club, to give back to those in need in our community. Our donation to the Share the Holidays program was matched by River Valley Bank thereby increasing the amount and helping a larger percentage of the community. neighbors placewomens center the first photo is the donation to the Share the Holidays program for $350.00; matching funds from River Valley State Bank turned this into a $700.00 donation for Wausau area charities. Pictured left to Right: Ken Koppa, Pete Samolinski, Ken Prigge, Erik Mrotek representing WSAW Channel 7 news, and Marc Leveque. Glue Crew members in attendance but not in photo: Bob Dudley and Joe Drew.

The second photo is our annual donation to the Wausau Women's Community Center also for $350.00. The funds are used this time of year to provide presents, food, etc for families at the women's shelter during the Christmas season. Pictured left to Right - Marc Leveque, Pete Samolinski, Ken Koppa, Ken Prigge, and Jessica Lind on behalf of the Women's Community Center.

In a separate donation we're sending $100.00 to the IPMS, (International Plastic Modelers Society), to support the "Make & Take" program. This will continue to help support the growth of the hobby through building by our younger modelers.

The Glue Crew are proud to help out our community and hope to continue this tradition for many years.
